As you may know, bipolar disorder is a type of depressive disorder where the patient has high mood swings relating to severe depression and manic episodes. People find it difficult to stay concentrated and happy while feeling depressed and sad on most days. People could find it hard to sleep and function throughout the day with varying levels of energy for a boost in confidence or happiness. In some situations, people might feel active and irritable during a manic episode. On the other hand, many patients feel sad during depressive episodes.
For some reason, most of us know that Ernest Hemingway was a great poet and writer. I can remember reading his famous world called "Hills Like White Elephants." The poet's charisma in the piece was reflected with great imagery and detail. However, we always seem to associate Hemingway as a writer of the past who had no importance besides his poems. Even though that can be true, that is not likely the case.
During the 1950s and earlier, Hemingway suffered from bipolar disorder. I still find his family history of mental illness pretty intriguing. It contributed to much of Hemingway's life. Hemingway's dad was a bankrupt alcoholic who suffered from depression and shot himself in the head. With that said, Hemingway's mom dressed the author up in feminine clothes causing him to lose sanity and argue with his mom.
In all honesty, I feel as if the disorder can harm someone's life and cause them to experience pain on deeper levels. If you ever have a loved one suffering from this disorder, take a trip to the doctor and see what happens. Please, don't leave this issue unnoticed.
