Limited space calls for creative design

Actually Helpful Suggestions For A Small Apartment
Stengineer

When I recently moved into a small apartment, I looked online for articles suggesting furniture or decorations. I looked at lists for apartments and dorms, and while some of the ideas were cool, most would not work. In my apartment building, hanging and mounting anything to the walls is not allowed, so I assumed that the dorm articles would present me some very cool ideas. I was wrong. Many of the articles suggested hanging things from walls and ceilings, large one-use furniture, or unnecessary products.

Like this massive and oddly shaped lamp...

And adding this onto your kitchen cabinets...

Or adding doors...

So I decided to make a list of the furniture and decor that I have found is very useful for a tiny apartment.

Actually Useful Ideas

Hanging Shoe Holder

You *could* put your shoes in this, or you could organize your bathroom items, makeup, or other small items in order to free table/dresser/sink space. The clear pockets make it easy to see everything you've stored in it. This can be purchased at locations like Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Target, or online at Amazon.

3-piece Dining Room Table

I am in love with my table. It folds up into a tiny space and when opened up, will fit 4+ people. It only comes with two stools, but it has wheels, so you can push it up against any other seating in your apartment, if needed. I bought mine on Amazon.

Folding Love Seat

I don't actually own this *yet,* but I love the idea. It is a loveseat, so it doesn't take up as much space as an actual couch, and it folds out into a full size bed, without the heavy metal pullout bed that is common. I found it on Wayfair.com

Tall Bed Frame

Add storage underneath your bed with this tall bedframe. Available for all sizes of beds. Found on amazon.com

Good Hangups

TBH I saw this on Shark Tank. It used magnets to hang your wall decor, rather than command strips, which may or may not rip off the top layer of paint. Go to their website to learn more.

Pocket Shower Curtain

You can face this inside your shower and store your hair and body cleaning supplies, or you can face it out and store your after-shower supplies. The clear one is great, because you can still have a cute decorative curtain underneath and it will still show through. I would probably get it on Amazon.

Storage Ottomans

It's a chair, a foot stool, coffee table, side table, AND storage. It seems like everywhere has these these days.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
