High school can make or break your future, here are some helpful tips to help you throughout your four years.
1. Focus on your GPA.
It all starts your freshman year, don't start slacking in your classes. Turn in your work, study hard for your tests and quizzes. If you slack off your freshman and sophomore years you're going to have a rough time trying to bring your GPA back up.
2. Take dual credit classes and AP classes.
If you have the option to take dual credit, or an AP class take it. You will save so much money in the long run and you will have some hours done for college.
3. Get involved with more clubs.
Step out of your comfort zone and try something new, you may end up falling in love with it. Join theatre, choir, or band and meet new people. Being involved with many clubs will give you the upper hand when applying for college.
4. Start applying for scholarships early.
Start applying early and apply for as many as you can. The more scholarships you get the less money you will have to pay out of your pocket. Trust me you don't want to pull out loans, it's a long process.
5. Apply for FASFA early.
Don't wait until two weeks to put in your FASFA. The earlier you apply the higher chance that you will get some money for college.
6. Worry about yourself.
This is simple, but we need to hear it more. Worry about yourself don't worry about your friends. Don't apply to the same college as them, focus on yourself. Follow your dreams, and follow your heart, don't let your friends influence you into going to a different school.
7. Don't stress over relationships.
High school relationships are just stressful and too much drama. The most important thing is don't lose yourself and who you are as a person. Don't stress that you don't have a homecoming date or a prom date, go with your friends you will have more fun with them.
8. Stay connected with your faith.
Life gets hard but try to stay connected with your church and find a accountability partner who can keep you on track.
9. Life flies by.
Live life to the fullest, go to all the football and basketball games. Go to prom, homecoming, and hang out with your friends as much as you can. Those 4 years will fly by, next thing you will know you will be walking across that stage grabbing your diploma.
10. Respect and be nice to your teachers.
I shouldn't have to tell you to respect your teachers, but being nice and respectful to your teachers can go a long way. Senior year you will need teacher recommendation letters, so be nice with all of them. Besides the need for recommendation letters, your teachers truly care for you, and they are always there for you.
