The Enneagram is a popular personality test that prides itself on helping you play to your strengths and discover your weaknesses based on your basic desires and fears. This is an intricate system that many people devote their lives to, and here are a few starters to help you discover which "type" you are and excel from there!

1. So what the heck are types?

https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/how-the-enneagram-system-works/

The Enneagram has 9 "types," or categories, that give a general overview of your general personality. As the Enneagram Institute likes to put it, "if you were to describe yourself in a few words, which of the following word clusters would come closest?" If you click on the link above, it will take you to a page that lists all of the types and their basic traits, desires, and fears.

2. What type are you?

This test from Enneagram User Guide has 36 questions (like the one above) and ranks the types, allowing you to find out which ones you tend towards. This is a great basis to explore the types that you score highest on to see which one you agree with most.

5. Don't forget the wing

According to the Enneagram Institute, "No one is a pure personality type: everyone is a unique mixture of his or her basic type and usually one of the two types adjacent to it on the circumference of the Enneagram. One of the two types adjacent to your basic type is called your wing."

6. So what's your wing?

This test, again from Enneagram User Guide, gives you three results that include your main type and your wing. Once again, with 3 options, it allows you to further research for yourself to figure out which fits you best.

7. But I kind of feel like parts of a few types?

So, looking back, you may feel strongly with your wing type. However, is there another type that keeps popping up that you agree with, too? Katherine Chernick Fauvre and David W. Fauvre came up with the idea of a tri-type.

According to the Enneagram User Guide, tri-types "basically look at an individual in terms of three types. An individual identifies the dominant type from each center (i.e., one type from the gut center: 891, one type from the heart center: 234, and one type from the head center: 567)."

Linked is a test that you can take to identify your tri-types!

8. Have fun with it!

Besides using the Enneagram to figure out your strengths and weaknesses, motivations and fears, you can also use it for other fun things like getting to know people around you better! Or just fall down the rabbit hole of Instagram and do bingos or try typing fictional characters!

Ten Truths Every Honors Student Knows
Photo by Poodar Chu on Unsplash

One of the main reasons I came to Salem State was I was offered a spot in the honors program. While it offered many benefits, scholarships and priority registration to name a few, what drew me in was the strong sense of community and close knit friendships many found. I am glad to say that that I did find these things, and so much more. I found a home made up of some of the most brilliant and most unique people I have ever met. Being in an honors program creates a college experience unlike any other and creates some universal truths that really only an honors student can fully understand.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?
