Be Your Own Hero

Don't rely on someone else to try to fix you.

I feel like there is always a time in our lives were we look for someone to save us. We want someone to fix and heal our wounds, to give us acceptance, and tell us everything is going to be okay. Having a person telling and saving you is amazing. But, you shouldn’t wait for someone to heal your wounds, make your own dreams happen.

We, as a society, like to rely on other people. Hey! That’s alright, though! You should have people to confide in and be able to tell them everything that you want to tell them. They should also give you support when you need it. But it is also alright to be your own hero. I used to think that my happiness relied on finding a guy to complete me. They would help me become a better me… that was an absolute lie. I thought that they would take care of me and support me. I realized I needed to do that for myself.

Happiness doesn’t lie in another person, it relies inside of yourself. You should be comfortable with yourself and make your own dreams come true. People leave all the time, there is no absolute promise other than their word that they will stay. (People also like to lie). You are the creator of your own happiness and only you can make yourself a better you. It is easy to fall in a habit where you believe that you need someone to complete you… I promise that they might fill a small void but it feels better to bring yourself your own satisfaction.

Work hard for your goals and strive to be a better person. When the time comes, you will find that person that will help you grow. Remember, though, it is not their job to complete you. That is one of the main reasons why relationships fail. Too many people rely on the other to make their dreams come true and places pressure on a person that they cannot handle. Relationships are supposed to be two people in mutual agreement that they want to be in each others lives but not necessarily become the person’s life.

I understand that this time of year is awful for some people, don't settle for less than you deserve. Don’t let a glorified f***boi of f***gurl make you feel worthless. You do not need someone to save you, you are perfect the way you are. Make yourself your own Knight in Shining Armor.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
