How YOU can make money in college

Being in college is rough for lots of reasons, the most difficult is probably the lack of financial support and increased amount of expenses. What's worse, it's hard to juggle typical jobs and your classes. Here are just some of the simple ways you can make money while you're still a college student.

Selling Yo’ Stuff!

You can sell literally anything on the web: books, old video games, even food. You can even make things and sell them on Etsy. You can explore sites like Ebay and Amazon, but you really can sell things from anywhere, and clear out your closet of things you no longer use or need. If you're really good at it, you can work on creating your own products to sell in bulk. It's easier now than ever to produce your own merchandise to sell and you can bulk up your social media presence to make it happen.

Tutoring

If you're in college, you probably are smart enough to be a tutor. Whether it's for college students in a class you already took or younger kids, you can post flyers about anywhere advertising your prowess and your desire to get paid for said prowess. Are you an expert at managerial accounting? Cover the campus with flyers advertising your skills and wait for the calls to come in. Also, by this logic, you can sell any service that you can do well.

Uber

If you're lucky enough to have a car, you can offer your services on the weekends, especially if you camp out near the bars and bring partiers back home after crazy Friday and Saturday nights out. Also, you have the ability to rack up good ratings, and hopefully, get more customers, maybe even repeat customers. What's more, all you need is a car and you can rake in some dough.

Get A Job!

Well, duh. Of course, a semi-easy and very reliable way to make money in college is to take on a part-time job. What are the best places for a college student to work, though? If you work for your college campus, you’ll likely have flexible hours that work with your class schedule. Also, every college and university has job postings for students, and every school needs people to work at the bookstore, the dining hall and different departments. You might be lucky enough to get paid to sit at a desk and do homework like me!

Odyssey

Well, of course, there was going to be a plug for Odyssey. What better way to make money than do what you already like to do anyways: read and write for Odyssey. While there’s not a ton of money here for writing, every dollar helps. What’s more, the harder you work, the more money you can make. Also, you’re writing and working for a pretty important news outlet on the cusp of great things. Not every “money making venture” entails making big bucks right away. Of course, if you're interested in this avenue, you can always apply.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
