Hello there! Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Reese Clifford, and I am one of the newest content creators for the Odyssey Chapter at the University of Oregon. I am so thrilled to have been chosen to be a member of this team. As a current Pre-Journalism major, I am ecstatic to gain experience within my major as a writer for the Odyssey and to learn different tips and tricks from week to week.
By looking at just the main picture on the page, you can probably tell where I'm from! I am from the great state of Texas, but was born in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. Basically I've spent each section of my life in a different part of the country. First the Midwest, then the South, and now the Northwest! You could say I'm from all over the place. This is something that I plan on writing about a lot--my family's love for the city of Chicago, my ties to the country of Italy, or maybe even the fact that until recently, I had never even had a family member (besides my immediate nuclear one) within the same state as me! Before I even moved to Oregon, I don't even think I considered myself a Texan, but as I've been missing it more lately, I've come to think of myself as one.
My family is incredibly important to me, and I'll probably talk about them a lot, either inadvertently or totally blatantly (love y'all). I am the youngest of four, and am lovingly called "the baby of the family" by my mom. My siblings are my best friends. Without them, life would be pretty darn boring. The newest additions of the family are the two dogs we got in the last 6 months. People often joke that they are mine and my sibling's replacements (which let's be real might kinda be true).
One of my favorite subjects that I plan on writing about a ridiculous amount is my love for vintage clothing and thrift shopping. I always love a good deal, and even though I might save a bit on each individual, the amount of money that goes towards my clothing is admittedly excessive. But I'm completely okay with that. The majority of my money spent since I got my first job at 16 is directed towards clothing, food, or concerts. So, surprise surprise that's what I'll mostly be talking about.
As a member of the UO College Democrats, I am an highly interested and invested in the political sphere as well, and I plan on incorporating this into my Pre-Journalism major in any way that I can. I am proud to label myself a feminist, despite the negative connotations that can sometimes be associated with the word. If you stick to it's most basic definition, I think that most anyone can get on board with feminism.
So there you have it. Some basic facts about me! I could say a lot more but I don't want to ramble. I hope you continue to get to know me through my writing and see what I'm up to at the U of O! Go Ducks.
