Summer is FINALLY here and with that being said it is time to spend endless hours by the pool, by the lake, outside enjoying the wonderful sun. Since we are all coming out of our hermit shells and exposing our skin to the sun, it is important to use sunscreen. However, some people, like myself, will get burnt regardless of the amount of lathering of sunscreen. Therefore, it is essential to have a “go-to” remedy list of treating the bad burns.

Stop Picking

The number one thing is DO NOT PICK at the peeling skin. Yes, it is so tempting to pick at our peeling skin because no one wants to see the peels, but DO NOT PICK.

Ibuprofen

Redness is typically caused by inflammation internally and externally, therefore, take two ibuprofen every four hours.

Green Tea

Green tea has tannic acid and theobromine which helps relieve pain and heal damaged skin. Not only will it reduce the redness, but it is great for your skin.

Aloe Moisturizer

We all know that aloe is a natural way to cool, sooth, and take the sting out of the burn. Apply and reapply aloe moisturizer every four hours.

Oatmeal Baths

Taking a cool bath with oatmeal will do benefits for the burn. Oatmeal has polysaccharides that will help heal the skin and the cold water will seal off pores.

Baking Soda Paste

Since baking soda is one of those ingredients that everyone has so why not use it! It actually helps reduce pain and redness. Mix baking soda with cold water together to create a paste and smear the paste gently over your burn and leave on until the heat or pain has reduced. Rinse off completely.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
