The holidays are finally approaching! This is ALWAYS my favorite time of the year simply because I enjoy family time, warm drinks, cool weather, fun fashion styles, sweets (but that is quite the norm for me), Christmas music, and so much more! Let's face it, I'm a holiday person...quite a bit. Something about seeing Christmas lights, decorations, and smelling the aromas of coffee and baked goods makes my heart feel full and warm.

I think this time of year is perfect to go out and find some fun things to do! Personally, I love seeing Christmas lights, shopping for gifts, enjoying a warm lunch, or even enjoying a coffee date with friends. Spending time with family is also something I enjoy doing as well. Sharing laughs, hugs, and smiles always soothes my soul. You can always find things to be thankful for when it comes to family and being with them.

Something I keep telling myself is that when I have my own house it will probably look like the north pole and I am totally okay with that. Decorating is a must. If I don't get to do it I will go crazy. Period.

Oh and let's not forget about snuggling up with a cozy blanket and watching Christmas movies when it is too chilly to go out and about! One movie I am really excited to watch this year is Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors which will be on NBC at 9/8c, November 30th. If you love her as much as I do, you won't want to miss this heartwarming movie based on her childhood!

There are so many fun activities you can do during the holidays and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I honestly could go on and on about the things I love during this time of year. If I did, this article would probably be twenty pages long. So for your benefit I shortened it to about one page. Please know this was not easy for this crazy holiday lovin' gal. If you love the holidays like me, then you will understand this. Anyway, enjoy these times with family and friends and make the most of it.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
