Hello God, Are You There?

Open your heart and fall to your knees, request guidance and let down the tattered walls of your heart.

In a society that is always looking for immediate satisfaction, we fall into the current of "controlling" our surroundings and expecting an immediate resolution. We have lost patience and the appreciation for God's timing, agonizing over every move we make and ending up with the antagonizing question of "what if"; when God has clearly told us to trust in him, that he will provide and never forsake us. Yet we continue to run in circles chasing our own tails, tripping over the pieces we have left in our wake.

Have you noticed that you may have an idea of what you think would be best for you and it doesn't always turn out that way? Yes, you will go through trials and tribulation, you may even walk many, many miles until you come upon a clearing, but God has always led you. He is asking for you to trust in him and with doing so you have sprouted a vine, because he is the source of life, he will continue to multiply your branches and allow you to grow into someone you may not have believed possible.

We are malleable, fragile, his clay to form for his will. Open your heart and fall to your knees, request guidance and let down the tattered walls of your heart. He is waiting for you to step back and ask him to take the reins, to show you his love and mesmerize you with a future you are not capable of dreaming up. God says, "You provide the obedience, and I'll provide the power. You obey, and I'll show the way." Exodus 3:11

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
