First family trip to the United States

Upon Arrival

To send me off to college, my family planned a road trip starting from New York. Soon after we settled down, we had a barbecue at the Korean Town. I was surprised by the overcrowded streets, and fortunately we had a reservation to opt out of the long waiting time.

After the hearty dinner, we drove to New Jersey to view this lovely Big Apple at night.

A Day Full Of Museum

The next day, New York greeted us with flourishing businesses and the Museum of Modern Art. Though I am not the kind of person who followed the audio tour or read through the pamphlet, I was fond of the creative artworks of Andy Warhol's portrait of Marilyn Monroe, the spraying, the arrangement, and all the other unidentifiable objects.

Then we came to visit the largest and most popular museum in the States--the Met. In addition to the Egyptian exhibition, the European paintings, and work of Vincent van Gogh, I liked the photography and the fashion show the most. With a great variety of exhibits, I am positive that most people can be inspired by this great collection of art.

After appreciating the beauty, we walked through Central Park (a great place for the Pokemon Go lovers i.e. my mom and brother) and reached the museum from "Night At The Museum." If you are fond of earth science, fossils, and huge models, this is the right place for you.

Tours Around NYC

The Statue of Liberty is always on the tourist's checklist. As soon as we got off the ship, my brother and I started to leave our footprints all around the statue. (My brother always aspires to wander throughout the city or places he gets to visit.)

Another stop of the tour.

Night at Times Square

Then I saw my first mind-blowing Broadway show--"Wicked." As someone who sleeps through artsy shows, I was surprised to find myself highly focused throughout the performance. Following the highs and lows of "Wicked," I began thinking about people who bumped into my life. And many times, it is the sheer coincidence that turns everything around and changes us for the better.

After the night in Times Square, we headed to Baltimore!

The Baltimore Orioles

My brother and dad are both baseball fans of the Baltimore Orioles, so they were hyped about the game of the Orioles versus the Red Sox.

This is the first part of our travel log and there is more to come!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
