I totally lost my chill. It started off like any other Friday morning; I was excited for the week to be over, and I was going through my morning routine, when boom, a musical bomb was dropped. On the morning of Friday, October 23, our British queen decided to reemerge from retirement. And, even though most fans like myself knew that she was coming back eventually, this was beyond unexpected.
It all started with her new breathtaking song, titled "Hello." And the best part is, that this is just the tip of the iceberg. The song, which was released alongside its music video, provides fans with some classic Adele with a twist. Like all of her songs, "Hello" portrays a heart-wrenching story accompanied by her breathtaking vocals. This song, Adele explained in an interview with Apple Music, "was a massive breakthrough for me with my writing because it'd been pretty slow up to this point, and I felt after I worked with ["Hello" producer] Greg [Kurstin] on this, it all poured right out of me." It appears as though our star has not only emerged from her hiatus, but she has also come back with a different perspective. After her massive 2012 Grammy success, Adele revealed that she was taking a five year break, explaining that she wanted to gain some more experience to produce even more profound music. Specifically, she explained herself in an interview with US Vogue when she said, "I am f***ing off for four or five years. If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy."
And it seems that Adele did exactly that. After almost a four-year break, she is back with the same amazing vocals but with a new take on her music. In her new song, "Hello," Adele looks back at her past relationship and tries to mend the bridges she burned so long ago. And what makes this even more exciting is that this is just the beginning. "Hello" is just one of the 11 songs that Adele will be releasing in her album 25. "Straight away, I felt a little bit silly singing 'Hello, it's me,'" Adele said in a recent interview. "But straight away I loved the verse and I knew it was going to be the first thing I came back with."
Hello to you too, Adele. Welcome back.
