Lately, our country has been divided: our political views have us separated in two different worlds. There's been protests, arguments, and rebellion, all because of our different views.
But what people seem to forget, is just because we have different views from one another, doesn't mean that either of us is wrong. It doesn't mean that we can't try and understand each other's views, and be respectful of them.
If anyone has seen Heineken's latest commercial, it really puts things to into perspective.
They take people with two totally different political views, make them meet one another, build a bridge, and watch a clip of one another stating their totally different beliefs. But the way each individual reacts to the others opposing views makes me believe that maybe we aren't as divided as we think we are.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but just because we have different opinions, doesn't mean we are all that different.
We're all a sister, a brother, a friend, and a child.
We all have dreams, we all have hopes for our future, and we're all passionate about something.
What if we got the time to discuss our different views? What if we took the time to understand why we have these different views? What if we stopped judging people on their beliefs, and looked at what's more important: the fact that we're all human.
Maybe if we took the time to do all these things, the world we live in today wouldn't be so divided.
