Heavier.
A glacier hitting the ocean
Finally melted enough to fall
After years of coastal erosion.
Heavier.
A piece of thread
Unraveling from my favorite dress
Is too much to lose.
Heavier.
I am a rock thrown into a lake.
You think I'm pretty when I skip a beat,
But then I always sink.
Heavier.
Metal and glass
Intertwine to construct my heart
Indestructible, yet fragile.
I try so hard
To be air instead of glass
But in trying to summon the air,
I am choked.
I try so hard to be earth instead of metal
But flowers cannot grow through lead.
There is iron in my blood, your blood
Weighing me down.
I am, I am
Trying.
Can't you see?
Metal and glass shield me,
But I am still me.
