Heavenly Host With The Most Mosts

No need for competition

Heavenly Host With The Most Mosts

The crystallized water was floating onto 255, matching the color of the Ford not far ahead. Wait, it couldn’t be...could it? Is that who I think it is? Accelerating slightly above the recommended speed, I closed the gap. I created a melody with my horn after my suspicions were confirmed. Back to the right lane. Two minutes later, I became visible in their rear view mirror again. Unacceptable. I couldn’t let them beat me to church! An increased velocity of my vehicle corrected the situation. All was well.

Our love of competition is a funny phenomenon. We seek to be the fastest, strongest, smartest, etc. The truth is competition doesn’t exist. Sure, it’s easy to compare humans and determine who is better skilled in a particular area. But when God enters the picture, He is the Heavenly Host with the most mosts.

He is the highest Being, the Creator of the universe. He deserves the most praise for His wonderful works. Yet, He is the most humble. The Author of Life did not consider equality with Himself when He left His throne to enter the world as an infant and live in a no-name town. This journey concluded in the most humiliating form of torture and death.

The love of the Alpha and Omega knows no limits. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither height nor depth, neither the present nor the future, nothing is powerful enough to add or subtract from His love. His love is omnipotent, most powerful and most loving.

The I Am is more real than we can fathom. He has more dimensions to His character (the Trinity). He has no past or future. Being timeless, He simply exists. He is not I Was or I Will Be. The I Am. We change over time. Who we truly are is yet to be fully realized. Not so with the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.

Abba possesses the highest level of compassion. The perfect parent, His heart burns with the same pain that causes us to shed tears. Because He chooses to share the pain of every chipped and shattered heart, He has felt more pain than any of us. He aches to love us in spite of this cost; He is the most vulnerable.

The Bread of Life is the most blessed. Blessing flows from a life of walking with God. His infinite wisdom demonstrates how to reap the most benefits out of any situation. Joy and peace flow from living according to His design, which He does perfectly. He is the most godly.

The King of Glory. Lord of Lords. Lamb of God. Mighty One. my Refuge. my Redeemer. my Salvation and Rock. Jehovah. Yahweh. Great Physician. Prince of Peace. Righteous One. my Daddy. God Most High.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
