As a young woman who is abnormally close to her mother, there is no questioning why Gilmore Girls will always be my favorite show. Centered around Lorelai and Rory, the quick-witted mother-daughter duo that you just can’t help but love, Gilmore Girls perfectly captures the honest and complicated day-to-day intricacies of the mother-daughter relationship. With 2016 blessing die-hard fans with the revival we have dreamed about for nine long years, here’s a look back at some of my favorite moments from the original series:

1. When Rory showed Emily their first home in Stars Hollow

While Emily may have left with a broken heart, viewers were left truly believing in the power of a dedicated mother. Although the converted shed was less then luxurious, Rory regarded the apartment with nothing but fond memories and starry eyes, proving that no matter the circumstance, a mother can truly make anywhere feel like home.

2. When Rory wasn't quite ready to leave Lorelai for college

As we all know, saying goodbye and leaving for college is heartbreaking, especially for the first time. However, the love of a mother knows no bounds and if you’re not quite ready to say goodbye, Lorelai proved that your mom will always be there to cure your homesickness.

3. When Rory got drunk and Lorelai held her hair

When Rory drank a bit too much and couldn’t contain her emotions (or stomach), Lorelai proved that mothers also function as our best friends. Holding her hair back and wiping her tears, Lorelai proves that even if you’ve had one too many Founders’ Day punches and are an absolute mess, your mother will always be there to hold you and comfort you, with the promise to make fun of you later.

4. When Rory finally got the chance to be the mother

After an unexpected break-up, Lorelai finds herself devastated and unable to get out of bed. In this heart wrenching scene, Rory returns home from school to join the pity party and, in the ultimate role-reversal, comforts Lorelai in a maternal fashion- stroking her hair, wiping her tears, and just holding her until the pain subsided. While the importance of a mother is one we are all familiar with, this tender moment demonstrates the lesser known significance and power that a daughter holds.

5. When Rory delivered her valedictorian speech

Topping the list of my favorite moments is that infamous valedictorian speech that left no-viewer with a dry eye. Perfectly depicting every daughter’s belief that their mom is truly the best in the world, Rory finds the perfect words to express the ever-shining beacon of inspiration that is a mother.

While narrowing down my top 5 favorite mother-daughter moments, it was no easy feat. Re-watching the masterpiece that is Gilmore Girls was not only a pleasure but reminded me just how incredible my own mother is. For any of you who have not attempted to keep up with the fast paced banter of Lorelai and Rory, thanks to Netflix, the original series goes global July 1st and the revival is set to premiere later this year. Perhaps we all need to pay tribute to our mothers, so pick up the phone, get in the car or jump on an airplane and remind her of how important she is in your life.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
