On our second year of college

A Letter To My Best Friend
Nadia Palma

College wont be easy for the either of us and I know that life itself is going to test us. I just want you to know that no matter where we choose to go in our lives, I'll always be by your side. This letter comes from the bottom of my heart and I just want to remind you how much I appreciate you and all your support. As we get closer and closer to achieving one of our biggest dreams together, I want you to know now that our friendship is unbreakable and that I value you so much as a person. Without you, I don't know how my life would've turned out. While this letter alone isn't enough to explain my adoration and appreciation for you, this is just a taste.

Dear Best Friend,

I can't forget those moments we laid across my living room floor talking about our lives, the majority of the things you say still linger in my mind. Remember when I fell out of love and didn't know how to let go? You were there to correct me throughout all my wrongdoings and you still had enough love in you to hold me close when I needed it the most. I don't know where life will take us, but I do know we've made it past difficult patches and rainy days. I want you to know that you're special to me. It's not about how easily you make me laugh or how quickly you make me smile. It's the way you listen to all I have to say without judgment. Trust me, I know I can be annoying at times and I like to believe the world is out to get me at times. But when was the last time you told me I needed to change? Never.

As we get older, there is no doubt we will change. The only things that don't change are memories and what we've said. The other day, I was watching a movie called "Remember Me" and a quote said stuck to me, "Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we've touched". Do you believe you can make an impact on someone's life, that you leave an aura behind even after you're long gone? I do. I used to think the term soul mate meant finding someone to share your life with - preferably your partner. That was until you came into my life. I mean who is going sit down with me and binge watch Netflix while eating ice cream? Who's going to sit next to me and actually listen to all my thoughts? Now I think a soul mate is someone you love deeply and share an unbreakable bond with, whether it be your best friend or partner. Maybe you're best friend and soul mate all in one. How lucky can I get?

In our second year of college, I just want you to know that no matter what is thrown at us, we can get through it together like we always do. I mean we survived high school anatomy together! We can definitely handle college. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting my goals, even when I doubted myself. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us both, and I can't wait to see the day we're both holding our diplomas...We're one step closer to our dreams. I believe in you and all your abilities. I know we can do this.

Sincerely,

Your best friend

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
