"Terrorism and Deception are weapons not of the strong, but of the weak." - Mahatma Gandhi

Up until yesterday, France was getting ready to lift the State of Emergency they have been placed under for so long. Up until yesterday the people of France had hope that they wouldn't have to be afraid to go outside or go have fun without a terrorist attack happening. Complete grief is all that I could feel when I read about a terrorist, who just got into a truck, and mowed through a crowd of people without even an ounce of remorse. 70 people died. All because someone decided they hated such a wonderful place so much that they needed to KILL innocent people. It is truly saddening. Every time I turn on the news, all I see is hate crime, racism, both domestic and international terrorism. Terrorism makes me sick to my stomach every time I read about it. Knowing that someone, hates our country, and other countries so much that they need to terrorize them and make them feel unsafe in their own streets is sickening to me.

Every time I get out of the bed, go to work, or school I am faced with the fear that another set of innocent lives will be taken at the hands of a terrorist domestic or international, I am faced with the fear that my own country could be hit with another terror attack and that scares me. We should NOT have to live in a world where we are AFRAID of terrorism and the heartbreak it can cause. We should not have to raise a family in a world like this one either. Growing up seeing all of these things on the television makes me realize that, raising a child in this kind of world is NOT something I could ever be okay with, and some of us are raising children in a world like this one, and even though it is not okay that some are left to decide if they want to raise a child in this world or not, it is what's happening. All I can say is this, if I ever am left with the decision to raise a child in this world that we live in right now, It will be the responsibility of me, my spouse, and all the other people surrounding my children to teach them what is right and what is wrong in this world today. It is left up to all of us to be an example of what happens when you do the right thing. I am going to start with terrorism, terrorism NEEDS to be stopped. It needs to be controlled so we can live without fear! So we can teach our children no to be afraid of their religion, or their heritage. It is up to us to be the change we wish to see. And I hope that we all can make a difference not just in our town but, in our state, country, and world. God Bless You All and Prayers for Nice, France.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
