If you didn’t already know I am kind of an environmentalist.

I always fill up my reusable water bottle, leave my reusable totes in the back of my car I don’t have to take plastic bags at the store and take pretty short showers in order to conserve water. I really believe that it is the little changes you make in your everyday life will have the hugest positive effects on the environment.

Helping out large scale environmental issues is also important but sometimes they can seem really daunting and it can be hard to figure out how you can help. That is why I stick to the little things.

Now as I try to become more environmentally conscious one thing I have always wanted to learn more about is what products I should buy for my everyday life. There are so many different brands of shampoos, soaps and face cleansers out there that it can be really hard to figure out which one is the best for the environment; unless you want to be consumed by endless hours of research, which no one does. So this is where this new handy app comes into play.

The Healthy Living app by EWG gives you the power to scan products in the store and get a rating on how environmentally conscious and good for the environment that product is. The app is powered by Food Scores and Skindeep. So you have the power to look up both cosmetic and toiletry items as well as food products from the grocery store like frozen pizzas.

You also have the option to browse products that they have already approved so you can go to the store with an idea already in mind with what you want to buy. Product research just became so much easier!

I highly encourage everyone to download this app! It is a great way to start making small simple choices that will have a huge impact on the environment. Plus things that are good for the environment can only mean they are better for you!

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
