Healthy Eating Made Easy!

Opt out of snacking on pizza and candy when you’re craving something satisfying during a late-night study sesh and try one of these ready- to- eat snacks!

1. Fruit

Fruits are simple and easy when it comes to snacking; they have a lot of sugar to satisfy a craving and enough fiber to keep you full. Bonus- buy fruit to keep in your freezer, it’s great for snacking on when you’re craving something cold and sweet (like ice cream!). I keep a Nutribullet in my room or when I have extra time to make myself a smoothie or natural fruit-based “ice cream”.

2. Bars

If you’re looking for something sweet and protein rich go for a Quest bar! They average about 180 calories each with 20g or protein and barely any sugar! However, if you are going for something unprocessed I suggest trying a Larabar, they are made with fewer than 5 ingredients and curb any late-night cravings!

3. Oatmeal

The best thing I have ever done for myself was to buy a giant bag 2 pound of rolled oats to bring with me to college (okay maybe that’s not my greatest idea but it is definitely up there). Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks- oatmeal is great any time of day. It is versatile enough to be sweet or savory. Throw in some chia seeds, nuts or fruits and you’re good-to-go.

4. Air-Popped Popcorn

Possibly my favorite snack is popcorn sprinkled with cinnamon- if you are more into spicy try it with some cayenne and fresh squeezed lime.

5. Carrots and Baby Peppers

Dip these in Hummus or eat them on their own and you are good to go!

Enjoy!

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
