Have you ever had those days when you want something delicious, but just can’t decide what it is that you want? Or have you ever had the experience of working on a big project all day and it’s too late to stop by the school cafeteria?
If you have, there is a solution for both of these problems: a chunky and vibrant fruit smoothie. Now, I realize that this may not sound so exciting at first. But trust me, fruit smoothies will make your busy life a lot easier and will improve your health.
First of all, they are quick to make. Time management is really important for students and making something with only a few ingredients that can still be sufficient is better sometimes than waiting an hour for a Dominoes pizza when it’s already 10:00 p.m.
Alternatively, if you know you're going to be hungry in between classes and don't feel like waiting through long lines to buy a snack, it's easy to blend up a smoothie before the first class and save it for the time of the break.
Not only that, but they're extremely healthy. Personally, my favorite smoothie to make is a blueberry smoothie because it’s rich in antioxidants and potassium and the color is very appealing.
And let’s face it, it's not as enjoyable to eat an ordinary banana, for example, as it is to have a beverage that contains multiple fruits and flavors of juice in it. Based on a self conducted poll, 71.4 percent of the participants preferred to drink a fruit smoothie rather than eating a piece of fruit.
A few other pluses are that during the craving phase, a fruit smoothie is sweet and it prevents you from overeating or stress eating desserts like ice cream or cookies. Also, juniors or seniors in college that have their own apartments can make smoothies as a fun way to cater and entertain guests.
But wait, here is the best part... it’s free! If you go to a place like Freshii, while their strawberry banana smoothies are refreshing, they're about $10. When you think about it, this is pretty ridiculous when you can make a smoothie yourself at home that's just as good.
