Society puts so much emphasis on having killer curves and toned abs. However, at the end of the day most of us don't match up with society's unrealistic beauty standards. As a result, so many young girls (and guys) suffer from poor self esteem and body image issues. While recently more body positivity messages have come about, we are still a long way from promoting the on the body type everyone should aspire to: a healthy body.
To me, health is wealth and means you should treat your body as your temple. I believe respecting your body and giving it proper nutrition, exercise, and rest are key to a healthy body image. The ironic thing about working toward a healthy body, is that everyone's will look different. Some people are naturally thin while others have more curves. The point is that you shouldn't judge someone by their body type because everyone's version of healthy is different.
When you stop aspiring to look like girls in magazines or girl's with different bodies in general, you will be able to make peace with yours. Everyone is unique and so are our bodies. The only thing anyone should aspire to be is healthy, inside and out.
Working out routinely tones your body and also gives you confidence. Strong is sexy. Eating clean fuels your body with the energy it needs. Your hair and skin glow when you take care of your body. Choosing a healthy lifestyle has drastically changed my life for the positive.
When society's ridiculous beauty standards get you down remember that your health is more important than looking like someone else, someone who may not even be healthy themselves. Work toward progress not perfection. Take time to focus on you, and work toward realistic goals like working out more, choosing healthier options, and getting more sleep. You are your strongest at your healthiest.
