We all have to get up in the morning whether we like it or not. Your morning routine will affect the way you behave throughout the day, so keeping a healthy morning routine can make you more productive! Here are some of the best things to do in the morning in order to have a hard-working and energy-filled day:

Step 1: Don't Hit Snooze

This may take some getting used to, but hitting snooze is a habit that we are all too fond of. Every time you hear the alarm, don't hit snooze. Instead, try to get your body out of bed, and slowly but surely you will get a much more regular sleep schedule.

Step 2: Stretch

Doing the "Child's Pose" in the morning, a pose in which you bring your knees to your chest on the ground will help to stretch out your lower and upper back. This will release tension from your hips and loosen you up for the day.

Step 3: 5-Rep Exercises

Small 5-rep exercises, such as five push-ups, five squats or five lunges, will set a nice tone for your day and get you ready to be productive. There isn't anything about the number 5, just that it is generally an easy number to maintain for most people. You can increase the number gradually as you get used to the morning work-outs.

Step 4: Take a Cold Shower

Taking a cold shower wakes you up and gives you the energy to really wake up and get active. It raises your blood circulation and prepares you for the activities you will perform throughout the day.

Step 5: Lemon Water

Drinking lemon water will get you hydrated after being dehydrated for eight hours. Starting your day with a glass of lemon water will help you replenish the water you have lost and get your stomach ready to digest your breakfast.

Step 6: Eat a Plant-Based Breakfast

It's a common belief that you need milk, eggs, or some other source of protein in order to have a good breakfast. However, you get plenty of protein at other times through the day and it feels good not eating any animal products for one meal a day. A banana with some almonds or avocados is a great example, and another added benefit is no preparation time!

Step 7: Clear Your Mind

Doing a 10-minute meditation or journal writing gives you time to focus on yourself and what you wish to accomplish throughout the day. It will decrease your brain clutter and keep you sharper throughout the day.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
