Living 20 years and more under the same roof, or in the same town is and always will be your life. Being able to step out of that life is what I personally want. I know being around family is important to keep those connections, but you realize you aren't seeing the world in the same place forever. Whether I travel for the rest of my life, or pick a specific place to live, is my choice, but letting day by day take me where it wants to go is the only thing I can do.

That's why I chose to just move states and completely start fresh. After college I would like the experience to build new friends, co-workers, and experience different places those people call home. Find a true love, or a best friend. I want to experience things on my own, and find my own self.

I want to know the home coffee shop that everybody in town goes to. I want to meet the usual elders at the bus stop, or even those businessmen waiting for the subway. I want to live in a city, and big city or success and dreams. My town is boring, and quiet. Why not experience something so much bigger? So much more out there? Everybody has dreams, and goals, but why not wanting to live somewhere you love, or somewhere you can call home.

Living outside of your comfort zone can help you not only travel more, but experience other cultures with confidence. You continuously want to learn more about your new town/city. The accents can rub off, and you start to change into that culture. I would like change, and change is always good for yourself.

It creates happiness, and confidence. Moving, and pushing yourself to bigger and better things can create images that you never thought you had. I want to move away from home after college to build my life, to start my own life. I can do that at home too, but I want to move to make memories for my family. Tell them I am not originally born here, I moved to create a life I never thought I'd have.

Sometimes going after your dreams is the only thing that can get you farther to where you want to be. I tell myself it's not going to be easy, but it's not impossible. If you create yourself to be the person you want, then why not do things the way you want too?

A note to others:

Let yourself live the dreams you want to. Don't let others choose it for you. Decisions are the reasons you will be the person you are, they are choices that will stop you from continuing your dreams, or to continue your dream. It may seem like you are living a fairytale, but those fairytales are real if you make them.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
