When you were in grade school, everyone seemed to look forward to summer. Pool parties, no homework, and beach trips. It was the eleven weeks of freedom that you could get before having to go back to school the following nine months of the year.
It was a much-needed break filled with late nights, friends, ice cream, warm weather, and sunsets.
However, in college, summer takes on a whole other meaning. In college, summer means getting a job. And although you like making money, you tire of the 9-10 hour days, 5 days a week. You constantly have to tell your friends "sorry, I can't, I have work." You have to think about taking off time weeks in advance for vacations or other commitments to avoid getting a scheduling conflict. Because that's what you're expected to do as an adult, right?
You're expected to work. Here are just a few of those little things we have to deal with as a part of the workforce.
