Since birth Christmas has been the most magical time of the year. Your family has always gone to great lengths to make sure Christmas is always perfect. If you're a part of a family who's obsessed with Christmas, you've most likely experienced some of these things.
1. The celebrating starts early
The second Halloween is over your family begins to step into the Christmas mindset. You know that you must wait until Thanksgiving is over to fully dive into the Christmas spirit but it's hard. Thanksgiving to you and your family is the starting line of the Christmas festivities beginning. The second Thanksgiving is over decorating and singing carols will take place. Thanksgiving truly gets no love from your family because it's getting in the way of all the Xmas madness.
6. Movies are constantly playing
When you look on your TV to see what's recorded you will find a million Christmas movies. You know you and your other family members won't watch them all, but they're still there. you feel as if whenever you walk into your house a Christmas movie is playing. You don't mind it but sometimes Frosty the Snowman and the Grinch can cause you to roll your eyes after seeing it on the TV for the millionth time.
8. You have a family reunion around this time every year
Every time in December you get with your Christmas loving family and have a reunion. All of your cousins show up at grandmas and exchange hugs and presents. Your mom and dad had to get their love of Christmas somewhere and you can see it's from your grandparents when you walk into their decorated house. Christmas truly would not be the same without grandmas food and being able to see your crazy (and sometimes dysfunctional) family members.
9. You are surrounded by countdowns
Everywhere you turn there's a countdown to Christmas. Whether the countdown takes from in chocolate, wooden structures, or your mom screaming every morning, you never are not aware of how many days until Christmas. This will lead you to tell all your friends how many days are left constantly. It will also result in you getting a little more excited with every day that passes.
10. Your parents are nonstop planning for events happening in December
After Thanksgiving your parents are continuously having conversations about the events taking place in December. You almost want to take out a planner and write all the dates down yourself. From their annual Christmas party to events with extended family, your family is booked all of December. You will be planning events of your own such as light shows and gift exchanges with friends. Due to your parents, your love of Christmas is large which will lead to a large schedule as well.
11. Christmas morning is stretched out all day
You and your family don't just go downstairs and quickly get through the presents. No, instead you stretch out the festivities as long as possible. You slowly open your presents, take turns, and take multiple breaks. You don't want the fun to end and you and your family will make sure it lasts as long as possible. You will be participating in the festivities until it's the 26th and Christmas has sadly come to an end.
12. There's a terrible sadness in your home on the 26th
The 26th of December is the ultimate Christmas hangover. You and your family are sad, tired, and your heart won't stop hurting. The magic of Christmas is over and your family begins the countdown till next year. Now all that's left is left over food and all of the wrapping paper the garbage man has yet to collect. The one distraction from the Christmas blues would be the stress you feel trying to find New Years Eve plans.
Your whole life your parents have made Christmas truly the best time of year. You may be annoyed at them for going a little too far sometimes, but in the end it's made the holiday so much more enjoyable. You have a true love for Christmas and you have your family to thank for that.
