As we gather round the table to sup to Thankstaking the politics of the situation come with us. I'll be flat out honest, skinny shaming does not exist. At least not how you think it does. Skinny shaming annoyingly piggybacks off of fatshaming which is when a fat body is shamed for it's presentation. Fat people are given so much less and demanded to perform to be enough in a society that tells them they will never attain the respect that is owed to them. Fat femmes have to work three or four times as hard as a skinny person. Now, I'm not saying that shaming and discrimination of people with eating disorders isn't very real and wrong. I'm saying that as much as it hurts a thin femme to be told to "eat a sandwich" (they always go for this line) or "You look like a boy" it does not compare to being openly mocked in public for eating. IT does not even begin to describe how hard it is buying food in a grocery store, shopping for clothes, being stereotyped as lazy or disgusting because of your body alone.

1. A thin femme can go out into a mall right now and find clothing they actually like with no problem AT ALL

Trendy clothing for fat femmes is basically nonexistent save for the loyal few like Torrid and Wet Seal Plus. Others, Forever 21 Plus, don't always have true-to-six ratio and the fits can be a bit tight. Also, can we talk about how F21 seems to have a whole store devoted to thinner bodies but one small corner in the middle of the store for fat ones? You could honestly walk right past it.

2. A thin femme can flirt with the person selling cookies and get their number

AND NOT GET LAUGHED AT. Fat femmes are always seen as the "ugly fat friend" or the bro of the friend group. We aren't viable candidates for partnership or worthy companions because we've got rolls and isn't that ridiculous?

3. A thin femme eat four slices of pizza in the food court

When fat femmes eat any act of violence can take place. Any. They can be openly mocked all while in a public space because it is openly acceptable to do so.

Next time, just hush.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
