Writer's block

I have always loved writing, and it's something that comes naturally to me, but recently I haven't been able to write anything at all. This school year is putting a strain on my creativity, and all I can think about is getting my work in on time and making good grades on tests. I guess some people call it writer’s block, but I don't really like to label. I have had no motivation for the past month, and all I do when I get home from a tiring school day is sleep. I have tried every tip to be more inspired and nothing has worked. I came to the conclusion this week that I need to take more time for myself to just let my creativity flow and not worry about college. I know that college is important, but school only lasts for so long and then what? I want my creativity to be bigger than the importance of my college degree. Everyone can go to high school and college, but not everyone can create and be able to express their thoughts in a unique way. I’m not the best at school and getting good grades, but I’d like to think that I'm good at photography or writing because to me, those are the most important traits. I want to put out the best content I possibly can and lately that hasn't been me. So for right now I do have writer's block or a lack of motivation, but I'm not going to let that stop me from letting my thoughts flow onto a piece of paper ever so gracefully.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
