Life is often way too stressful to handle and you feel consumed by everyday tasks. Instead of living you are going through the motions of the day and never really feeling like you get anything accomplished. Though you should always have your end goal in mind, sometimes life is about the little victories. Instead of letting life consume you, consume life. If you complete the following at least once a week you will feel like you may just have your stuff together.

1. Make your bed

This sounds like an extremely minute task, but starting your day off by making your bed sets your whole day in motion. When you complete the task of making your bed, you feel as if you can complete more tasks.

2. Make lists

Making lists is an easy way to know what you have to do and when you have to do it. Though making the list is only half of the battle, be sure to follow through with them.

3. Get ready for the day

Sometimes just doing your hair and makeup in the morning can start your day right, kind of like making your bed. I don't know about you but when I have my hair and makeup done I usually feel better about myself which usually makes my days more productive.

4. Be productive

It really does not matter what you do, whether it is a DIY you found on Pinterest or fixing something that has been broken in your house. Completing simple tasks are just as rewarding as completing big ones.

5. Cook dinner

There is nothing like a home-cooked meal. Go to the store, buy the ingredients, and cook like the chef your aren't. There is nothing more satisfying than eating a meal you cooked yourself, or eating the pizza you ordered because your food was terrible but at least you tried.

6. Workout

Whether you are going to the gym, or just doing some yoga from home nothing beats a good workout. Though it may only be once a month (if you are anything like me), finding time for a good workout is a must.

7. Start reading a book

Every once in a while, you get a chance to breathe and relax and it is always fun to start a new book during this time. You may not crack it open again for another six to eight months, but at least you started it right? That is an accomplishment all on its own.

8. Clean

This is my favorite thing to do when I am feeling overwhelmed with the world. I love cleaning. And to my family that is about to comment on this post, no I will not come clean your house for you. I live in a dorm room, so sometimes taking a break from my everyday routine and cleaning the bathroom or vacuuming the floor just gives me a quick break from reality.

Life is not always about the bigger picture, sometimes it is about the little victories. Follow these steps and you can feel like you have your stuff together--for a minute. Fake it until you make it, am I right?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
