You Do Have Time To Take A Break

Life is tough, and sometimes we need a moment to ourselves.

Life is TOUGH. Some days are amazing and then there are the less than amazing days. When it comes to the days that do not live up to our expectations, the ones that bring us down, we get so worked up over them. We look at ourselves and thing that something is wrong with us because we are having a bad day. We try to push through them the best we can but sometimes that just does not work and we end up with a streak of days where the sun is not shining. What do we do now? We keep going but really, what we truly need, is a break.

I know what you are thinking. A break? How could it be possible? We have to-do lists that are miles long, deadlines to meet, and people to please. When the world is constantly going and going how can we afford the time to stop?

Here's a little secret: you can afford the time to take a break. It does not need to be a whole week or even an entire day. A few hours here and there. Go on a hike by yourself, go paint a piece of pottery, go for a walk, or heck even take yourself for a little retail therapy.

We have the power to control how we think. We have the power to choose to have a good day and it takes a little something you do by yourself to bring your spirits up when you are feeling down then get out there and do that.

Why waste your time being in a bad mood when you can take a few hours our your day to turn that frown upside-down?

Life can get the best of us sometimes but it does not have to get the best of us all the time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
