~ "All disease begins in the gut" -Hippocrates
First learning about diseases and health, I really did not understand how profound and legit this statement that Hippocrates made was. When it comes to your body functioning to it's fullest it requires our Gut to be clean and well. Our Gut is full of bacteria thats living in our intestinal tracks. The bacteria works to fight/filter out bad infections/bugs and regulate our bodies.
Simply put; fuel it with bad processed foods and you'll weaken it BUT fuel it with healthy nutrient dense foods and you strengthen it.
Okay so, what does this mean to you and your gut?
Well, If you tend to find yourself with digestive issues, food sensitivities, mood swings, bad/sensitive skin, acid reflux, or autoimmune illness then you may be experiencing POOR function of your gut fighting off bad bacteria.
Now these symptoms can also stem from different issues but more than likely you can help improve them by focusing on your gut Health.
Try focusing on filling your body with whole plant-based foods which are full of nutrients.
It may be a matter of even adding some different beneficial foods to your regular diet such as; Yogurt with it's high probiotic count, Whole Grains because they contain all the nutrient enzymes our bodies need, Coconut Oil which contains good fatty acids to kill of any bad bacteria, Wild Caught Salmon because of the abundance of Omega-3 fatty acids, Bone Broth because of all the rich amino acids and minerals it contains, and lastly my personal favorite Kombucha loaded with minerals and probiotics our body needs.
These are just a few or many foods with the best benefit to your Gut health. I encourage you to try implementing something into your diet or taking away high starches and processed foods to inhibit your gut and then see how your symptoms disappear!
