Many students will be out of classes during the summer, going back to visit their family and friends. It's understandable to want to relax, sleep in late and not worry about deadlines for class assignments. A lot will also want to hit the beach to cool down from the sweltering heat.

It's also great to consider a productive summer—you could change how you live forever.

Think of summer as a chance to get ahead. If you want to start a freelance business when you have free time, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. If you're hoping to do an internship to get a job at your dream career, now is your chance to get something that many college students do not have. If you're wanting a little cash on the side to help save for college, look into a part-time job.

There are many opportunities to make your summer an important one for the path you want to explore in life.

If you don't have plans for the summer, take time off from the distractions in your life like computers and phones, and think about what you want to do. Write down all your ideas, no matter how silly they may sound. When you are done, look over them to see which ones are the most important.

When you are done thinking about them, figure out how to put them in action.

Even if you have not started yet, don't fret! You still have an opportunity to do the things you want. It's not too late to decide to be productive during the summer doing things you care about. Worrying about what you have not done will only result in you putting off what you want to do.

After all, fears are meant to be conquered.

The plans do not have to be full of grandeur either. It can be as simple as deciding to volunteer for a charity, cooking new recipes your family and friends will love, or joining a club. Helping other people, even your family, can also do wonders for your self-esteem.

Some students may see the summer as a break from the reality that college brings. However, it's important to challenge yourself to achieve something without the external push from people or from your institution. It builds strong characters, improves self-esteem, and could change your life in a way that you would not expect. There are always opportunities to make this summer a memorable one, so don't pass by them!

An active summer could be the best one.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
