It's all around us,
engulfing us in a tight hold.
Some are afraid,
others cheer "hooray!"
However, I have seen its tide,
have felt its crush as I'm taken down.
I struggle to break free,
like all the times before.
But, this time I'm bobbing up and down like some ore.
"Someone,
anyone,
can you help me," I plea.
I'm shaken, torn and drug out to sea.
I'm all alone, cold and crying.
No one else knows what I know,
for all of them this is all for show.
I assure you that it's not as I struggle to fight.
I might be tiny, but this isn't right.
It's all around me,
engulfing me like a wave to the shore.
But, I will hold on and fight off more.
For I am myself,
and you are you.
Now, say goodbye before I'm through.
