Julian Assange is a wanted journalist in our modern day for his leaking of classified government documents. He is an Australian and computer programmer who eventually created the website WikiLeaks. This is a whistle-blower site that has create a world-wide hatred of this man. This released several U.S. based documents making him wanted exposing the truth of the governments actual activities in the Afghanistan War under Bush and even a manual on Guantanamo detention center. Currently is hate for releasing the Podesta emails that have exposed Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton and several soliciting issues. Some sexual assault allegation in Sweden makes him wanted in that nation which caused his initial run from the law. He found asylum by the Ecuador government and is currently in an Ecuadorian embassy in London facing arrest from Britain and could possibly be sent to Sweden (until 2020 with the case being drop due to a statute of limitation) or the US where he would face the death penalty.

Edward Snowden is another whistle blower who is facing death. He worked for the NSA and an IT guy. While doing this, he found some illegal actions that the US government that hindered basic freedoms of the American people. He collects what he found disturbing and fled to Hong Kong where he released the information with help of Laura Poitra’s, a filmmaker, and a U.K publication The Guardian. He is currently in an asylum in Russia where he could possibly be given citizenship to protect him from the wrath of the US government. A very polarizing figure in the US but it as equal in terms of Assange.

So, what is the true issue? The very fact that the U.S. government was found doing wrong. This caused a public outcry in the government which they—senators, governors, representatives—to use the media outlets that they controlled to spread that these men are traitors. Evil men who did a bad thing. I am here to say that these are not traitors or some finding there five minutes of fame, these are Robin Hood figures. Hated Heros. Why are they hated because the out lash they have received is to the point that these men’s lives are destroyed and face the death penalty. If that is not hatred to these men, then I don’t know what you can call what the U.S. government have expressed toward these men. They are Heros as they have publicly given the populace the information that can protect us…American citizens who see liberties taken away constantly and face more to be taken.

How much of an issue is that? Why does American liberties matter to an Australian and “traitor”? These men have exposed the true issue that our society is missing. That some of Americas basic rights are violated and face violation. Assange showed the American military abusing military might and currently shows that a person lies and buys her way to get to the most powerful office. It raises the question what about her platform has she lied about or not do if she obtains the office? Snowden shown that the government is creating a Big Brother society in the name of security. It not the matter that we have lost our liberties because we have not lost them. The question arrives when will lose them because the voting populace is blinded and brainwashed by lies and deceit.

In closing remarks, it has never failed when a person or entity is given power they will not give it back. Reason why so many generals of the people became harsh dictators and exploited the very people they helped or just simply changed the very government that they sought to save. What Assange and Snowden has shown that we [the American people] have asked for security at lose of our liberty—which in the case the stretching of the definition—have yet retain liberties and obtain security.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
