"I hate you! Wait.. Don't go!" He said all in the same breath. "I'm sorry. I love you. Forgive me."
So, she did. Another day goes on and the two go out for dinner, the whole night he's checking his phone and laughing at random things. He's texting under the table and Snapchatting someone giving cheeky smiles.
"Who are you talking to?" she finally gets the courage to ask her partner.
"It's just a coworker, you know, Raymond from work?"
"Oh yeah, him. Alright, tell him hi." She shrugs and proceeds eating her dinner.
The girl's phone rings and she forwards the caller to voicemail. The conversation between the two go on and her phone goes off again, two texts this time. She starts to get nervous and looks under the table at her lap where her phone sits. Before she can even look up her partner angrily sighs and snatches her phone away.
"Who is this!? What is HE doing texting YOU. Don't they know you are MY girl?"
The girl sighs and rolls her eyes knowing what's coming next. He calls the number and it thankfully goes to voicemail. He continues to scroll through her texts and reads them all as if SHE is the one cheating.
"Why are you telling your Dad where you are? You are an adult. Does he HAVE to know everything you do!?"
He says with a scowl and tosses her phone at her from across the table. The girl rubs her shoulder and sighs loudly.
"Because." She starts to trail off biting her lip.
"That's all? Because." He starts to mock.
"No. Babe, he cares about me and wants me safe. That's all." She says taking up for herself.
"Don't you think I want you safe!? Don't you trust me!?", He screams at her. People are starting to stare and the girl covers her face in embarrassment.
"No. You look at me when I talk to you! Let's go! I'm done here!" He grabs her by the hand and yanks her away and angrily pays for the bill. The girl gives her waitress an aplogetic glance and exists the restaurant.
They quicky arrive at her house and they sit in complete silence staring at her bedroom window.
"So, are you going to kiss me or what?" She says quietly and continues blankly staring. He roughly grabs her by the chin and smashes his lips into hers.
"You better be glad someone likes you. You'd die alone without me. I hope you know that." He growls lowly to her.
She nods and quickly says goodbye and leans down and timidly says, "So.. we're dating now?"
He slams his hand down on the steering wheel and groans loudly. "You know how I feel about labels. Don't do that to me."
"Okay. Goodnight." she says.
A week later she is sitting on her back porch waiting for him to come over and watch a movie. She sees him pull up in her driveway and she waves at him. He sit's in his car and she can see him on the phone. Through the loud beat of the bass in his car she can hear him say,
"Yeah babe I'll be there after I leave here. Don't worry this won't take long." Her stomach drops and she nearly starts to cry.
"Stay brave." She tells herself as she realizes her worst fears are being confirmed. She knew she should of listened to her friends..
