Why I Hate Nike Shoes

We only pay for the brand name, not the quality

Why I Hate Nike Shoes

When we are looking for shoes, most of us go to Nike to look. Well, not me. I think Nike shoes are adorable but that is it. I can't seem to grasp why this brand is so popular. Nike has been around since 1964. It is one of the most adored companies in the world. The company is valued at almost 20 billion dollars. It didn't originally start out as Nike though, it used to be Blue Ribbon Sports. Two guys by the name of Phil Knight and Bill Browerman started the company back in 1964. The company changed to Nike in 1971. This dynamic duo came from the University of Oregon. It was an athlete and coach duo. They started out selling at track meets out of Knights car. Talk about success for these two.

While I love wearing Nike brand clothes, I hate the shoes. I'm sure you all want to know why...so here's why

1. They don't have enough support.

My ankles fall in, so I need a lot of support. Nike shoes don't have enough support for me. I have tried multiple times to find a pair that works. None of them have had enough. I can't even wear them for everyday shoes because of this. I for sure can't wear them for running, going to lift, or a day hiking. They just don't work for my feet. I always had knee pains after wearing them.

2. They are overpriced

I get that we are only paying for the brand name, but seriously they are not worth the price people pay for these shoes. Like the other day I had to go get new work shoes and I just looked at the Nike selection and all of them were over 60 dollars. I mean I paid only 60 dollars for my Brooks Launch. While yes they were on sale but none of the Nike's were on sale.

3. The didn't support Stephen Curry

What is Nike's deal? I can't see why they wouldn't support him and his quote. It isn't a big deal to let him put it on the shoe. I can get that the quote is from the Bible but come on Nike. If people get offended by it it is on them. They let a $14 billion dollar person slip through their fingers all over a Bible verse. I'm not saying it was a huge deal to me but I mean if they can't let people do what they want with their own shoes, I don't want to purchase or support the company. I think they made a terrible decision and they regret it. Under Armor now has Stephen Curry shoes, with the logo on them.

I know some of you may not agree with these reasons, but to me they are enough not to buy Nike shoes. I do however buy their clothes. I don't have a lot of them because they are overpriced as well. I would much rather go with a cheaper brand and usually that works for me. I don't care if you love Nike just don't tell me I'm stupid for not liking them. We all have our own opinions.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
