As his final days in office are coming to a close, a new hashtag is being thrown around. Some have joined in on the thanks, while others are scrutinizing the idea. Some are arguing that his policies have hurt rather than helped the nation. However, aside from all of the politics in itself, he has done a lot for this nation and it's people. Personally, that is what the hashtag represents.
Over the course of his presidency, Barack and his wife Michelle, have given us all new relationship goals. From their first dance to his final speech where he went into tears talking about how proud he was of her, every aspect of their relationship has made us giddy. Barack has also shown us what a great open heart looks like. He has shown the nation what it means to truly accept people for who they are. One of my favorite idioms is "Live and let live", and he has truly lived that out.
Obama has instilled into young people that they matter and can be whatever they set their mind to. Throughout his presidency, he showed that times are changing and nothing can hold you back whether that's your economic status, race, ethnicity, age, gender, etc. He has instilled what it means to work hard in order to get to where you want to in life. He has discussed many times about starting from the bottom and working his way up in order to get to where he is.
Finally, Obama has also instilled in us that the world is only going to be what we make it. In one of his more current tweets he says, "I'm asking you to believe- not in my ability to create change, but in yours." We are the change that we wish to see in this world. In order for there to be change, we must place aside our differences and come together as one.
So, personally I would like to say #ThanksObama for all that you have done aside from the politics. You've instilled hope, love, strength, acceptance, and wonder into our nation and it will not be forgotten. You have become a role model to many young children and rightfully so. Your heart has always been in the right place and you have accomplished a lot with what you were dealt with. Nobody's perfect and the presidency holds a lot of pressure, something that you took on with grace. As your final days in the office come to a close, #ThanksObama for a being a great 44th president.
