Harry Styles. Where do I even begin? For the last five and a half years, I have committed my heart and soul to this man. And hear me out on this one! Even people who are not fans of One Direction, or pop music in general, have a great deal of respect for Harry. But why? I know I love him for probably an endless amount of reasons, but here are a few non-problematic things Mr. Styles is about.

Total Feminist

When I say feminism is for everyone, Harry Styles is the first male feminist that pops into my mind. Harry was raised by a wonderful, strong mother and is guided by a passionate older sister, so to him, feminism is just a way of life. Oftentimes, Harry is demonized by the media to be this “womanizer” or “man whore” which is totally not true. He is actually an advocate for Emma Watson’s “He for She” campaign and always gives mad credit to the women in his life. Harry also doesn’t believe in objectifying women, which is attractive in every way.

Talented Songwriter

I know, you are probably thinking “What Makes You Beautiful” is not exactly Grammy-worthy material. However, in the earlier albums, none of the members of the band were writing their music. But as time progressed, the music matured and became more personal. And this is because the boys were allowed to let their creative abilities contribute. Harry, himself, wrote several beautiful songs for the band as well as other musicians. Arianna Grande’s song “A Little Bit of Your Heart” was actually written by Harry! A personal favorite line from that song is, “I know I’m not your only, but at least I’m one. I heard a little love, is better than none.” Cue the ugly sobbing…now!

Genuine

How many pop stars do you know would grow their hair out for over two years and nonchalantly cut it, donate it to a charity for children who are ill, but not have a lot of press surrounding them? Exactly. Almost none. Except sweet angel Harry Styles. This is the same man who has stopped concerts in the hot summer to allow fans to cool down, get water, and be safe. The same man who fights for LGBT rights publicly. Harry Styles is the type of celebrity all the other stars should strive to be.

Good With Kids

This quality alone has kept me around for this long. Whenever there is a baby at some sort of event Harry is at, he ensures he finds the child and talks to them. He has worked hand-in-hand with Make a Wish and other charitable organizations to meet children, and even after he meets them, he keeps in contact with the families’ to see how the child is doing. But one of my all-time favorite stories happened when he went to Ghana, Africa on a relief trip. For a long time, Harry would wear a St. Christopher cross around his neck daily; almost like his trademark. During his time there, one young girl grew fond of him and spent almost the entire time with him. When Harry went to leave Ghana, he gave the young girl his cross necklace to protect her while he was not there. And I am ugly crying, again.

This is a list I could continue for years. I would take a bullet to protect this sweet baby. Protect this man with all of your hearts for he is so rare and sensitive!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
