We last saw Harry waving off his kids as they boarded onto the Hogwarts Express just as he did many years ago. But that is not the end of the Boy Who Lived.
There will be a sequel: a new Harry Potter play that is officially the eighth Harry Potter story; "It follows them 19 years after Harry's battle with you-know-who, the dark lord Voldemort. Harry is an adult in the play, as he was at the end of the 7th book and the movie. The play will be portraying Harry and Harry's son, Albus' relationship and his struggles as he is born into the legacy of the chosen one and the boy who lived and a legacy he did not ask for.
The play is called "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child," and the synopsis follows:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
This will be the story of the boy who we saw grow up with us. Year after year, we saw him become the young adult he was, and now he is a grown man with three children and a full time job at the Ministry of Magic! We get to see the real story that matters: what happens after Voldemort, the real Harry Potter without dark magic always following and trying to capture him, without always having to fight what is coming his way.
Although, there might very well be dark magic in this play as to draw in Harry after years and Albus at this young age.
J.K. Rowling said: ‘It is very exciting to explore Harry’s world in a brand new way through the live form of theatre. Collaborating on this story is exhilarating for all of us and we can’t wait to present the eighth story at the Palace Theatre next summer.’
Seeing this story as a play makes it quite interesting how they will be performing the magic on stage. But we expect it to be the best considering it's coming from J.K. Rowling.
The play will take place at Palace Theatre in London on July, 2016 and tickets will go on sale on October 30th. Many fans will fly over summer just to see this play, and who wouldn't want to anyway?! If you were planning a Europe trip for the summer, might as well see the new Harry Potter play and remember your spells.
