Lumos
Harry Potter has been one of the biggest phenomena for people of my generation. People loved it. People hated it. People did not care about it. And for some it became a religion. I lay in a very special spectrum of people which exceed the loving element, and runs just a wee bit short of the religion element. I love it enough to binge watch it randomly whenever, wherever. But religion, meh. Not so sure.
So, as I travelled to San Francisco to spend a week of my summer holidays, I came across a very not so interesting dull person, who had a Slytherin backpack. It was a really good looking bag, and it gave me a wonderful idea. I decided to watch all eight Harry Potter films. Again. Yeah. I think it is a good idea. Not so sure though.
As I watch through those wonderfully created visual delicacies. These are the few things I hope I could have in real life.
First
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." It would be so wonderful to have Professor McGonagall say these words to me, “Not today.”
Ever had a bad day? Ever had a day where you want to give up on something? I have too. Many times. It is one of those universal feelings which you get at least a couple of times. For me, it is fairly regular. If you have watched this movie, you know what I am talking about. I wish one day when I am feeling down, feeling like I need to give up, Professor McGonagall appears in front of me, and keeps her hands on my shoulder saying, “Not today”.
I would have rather her say it than Syrio Forell. (GoT people get it)
Second
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." This movie definitely has some of the best conversations this series has had. One of them actually happens twice where Dumbledore asking a question. Once with Harry Potter and the other time with Tom Riddle.
“Is there something you wish to tell me?”
Freaking Harry and Tom, both are like, nothing sir. If Dumbledore would ask me that question once, I would sit him down and narrate my life problems to him. Like seriously, I just need him to ask me that question. He would know everything. I am pretty sure that conversation would last a few hours. Of course, most of the credit for the line goes to the actor who delivered it, and that’s what makes it so special. There is calmness, kindness, and curiosity in the way he asks. And that does the job. My days would be so much better with the Hogwarts headmaster asking me that question.
Third
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." One of my favorites from the series. This was the movie which told the audience; shit is about to get serious. It is not a child friendly, home-alone type fun movie anymore. It’s about time it gets dark.
One of my very favorite moments is when Molly Weasley meets the boy who lived, and starts with her motherly instincts.
Molly Weasley – “Got everything you need?” “yes, all of your books? “all of your clothes”…
It is so absolutely comforting. Probably the best feeling to be loved so purely. But to be honest, I have been asked this. In a very similar fashion. My Mum. And I guess this is one thing which is common. We all have someone as loving, pure, and fierce as Molly Weasley. Our Mothers.
Fourth
Harry Potter franchise. This is something that has been all spread all over the movie series and the books. J.K. Rowling, made sure we noticed him.
I would love to have a friend like Neville Longbottom. I know that the main friend area is filled with Hermione and Ron. But, I would rather have someone like Neville. This bro is just amazing. He had the guts to stand up to his friends, he is smart (definitely more than Harry), he is funny, he knows how to have fun, he is a good person, and the best part, he is so damn loyal. I think he was the character that impressed me incredibly much as I watched the last movie. The way he stood up to Voldemort even when he knew Harry Potter was dead, was simply applause worthy. Everyone needs a Neville Longbottom in their life.
These movies have been a huge part of my life, as I can guess for many others. There are much more instances where I hope for things or people to be real, and in my life. But that is the charm of this universe. It’s always there for you. After all this time. Always.
