It's that time of year. There's a month left in the semester, things are winding down, and the weather is, hopefully, getting warmer. There's not much left in you to keep that motivation going. The lack of sleep and constant feeling that there's not much you can do to keep up is, perhaps, overwhelming. Who better to tell you to keep pushing through the slump but the cast of Harry Potter? The characters we know and love have some pertinent advice for you waiting below!
1. From Harry Potter
Think of it this way. Every great college student in history has started out unsure of what they're going to do with their major, how late they're going to be in the library, or how they're going to balance their extracurriculars with their school work. But they did graduate — and those people they idolized? They felt the same things! They felt the stress, the pressures, the insanity of college life. But they made it through, and they graduated. If they can do it, why not us?
2. From Hermione Granger
If Hermione says you'll be okay, you'll be okay. We have to believe her; she's the brightest witch of her age! And maybe she's just assuring Harry he won't die in a few minutes by Voldemort's hand, but I think that's easily translatable to Hermione assuring you that you won't die in during finals week!
3. From Ron Weasley
You finished that paper early? You studied extra hard for your test? And then you aced both of them? THAT WAS BLOODY BRILLIANT!
4. From Remus Lupin
Probably the best advice on here: eat! Choose the foods that fuel your body in the best way. Look for the best options at the dining hall. Don't forget to sneak in a few sweets and delicacies — you'll definitely appreciate them when you're in need of winding down.
5. From Dumbledore
Could this list have been complete without this iconic quote from Dumbledore? I think it speaks for itself. There are so many dark times ahead — tests, finals week, the night before an essay is due — and it's difficult to fathom a time in which the stress and anxiety will go away. They are seemingly constant, but the solution is simple: turn on the light. Take care of yourself, surround yourself with people who love and support you, and push through the dark times; light is on the other side.
