Celebrating the world famous books being published 20 years ago in the United States on September fifth, I feel like this is a fitting article to write. "Harry Potter" has been around now for almost 21 years. The books were published in the UK in 1997, but did not get published in the US until a year later. However, since their publication, the books have gotten into the hearts of children, and adults, of all ages.
"Harry Potter" teaches a lot of life lessons throughout the story as the characters take you on their adventures. Friendship, love and family are the three main lessons that you can learn when reading these books. There are also important themes spread out throughout the book as well. Death is a common theme in the story. While this is a bit morbid, each theme establishes something very important in the story. I will let you, the reader, figure out these themes on your own. The most fun thing about these stories is the ability they have to let your imagination roam free. That is why I cannot tell you what to think. I can only tell you what I think and let you draw inferences off of them.
If you grew up reading "Harry Potter" you learned all these lessons. Growing up is a difficult time in a child's life. When I read Harry Potter as a child it helped me find myself a lot faster. It also showed me what true friendship is like. Along with the life lessons I found some of my favorite quotes that I still use to this day. So now, I will end this with one of my favorite "Harry Potter" quotes.
"It's our choices Harry, that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities."
This was said by Albus Dumbledore in the book "The Chamber of Secretes."
