Fred and George Weasley- Texas A&M

We all know that the twins dropped out of school and opened up the best practical jokes store in the history of everything, but had they not, I think they would have gone to A&M for sure. It is a great college with a lot of wacky traditions and plenty of places to pull of epic pranks. Could you imagine them on Aggie game days?! They’d bring new meaning to the 12th man!

Draco Malfoy- Rice University

With his family history and his undying need to please his psycho parents, of course Malfoy would go to the highest ranked private school Texas has to offer. With its prestigious academic standards and it’s pristine campus, the Malfoy descendants would be bred to go to a school of this caliber.

Luna Lovegood- Trinity University

Luna Lovegood was hard to place. There really isn’t a perfect place for someone so special. However, I feel like Trinity would offer a place for her creative and eccentric side to thrive. Many students who attend this fine school in San Antonio graduate with degrees in arts and music. I know this probably isn’t a popular choice, considering Luna would probably be suited in a place like A&M as well, with that being one of the best vet schools in the state, but I wanted to take into consideration her artistic side rather than her love for creatures. Also, a degree in arts would set her aside from other contenders at the Quibbler.

Neville Longbottom- Texas A&M

Having a deep interest for herbology obviously makes Neville a perfect fit for Texas A&M. The agriculture department alone would put Neville in a bit of a fit. He could meet other people that share in the same interests and learn more about the muggle world. All the while it is only a few hours from Trinity University.

Ginny

Ginny Weasley- Texas Tech University

While some may disagree with this decision, I think that Ginny would do well at Tech because she is a strong-willed, independent thinking woman. She is also one of the smartest students in her class. At Tech, Ginny would soar beyond expectation and take the school by storm. Tech’s impressive sports program would be great for her and I could see her being the first to start a kick ass Quidditch team at Texas Tech.

Ron Weasley- University of North Texas

As one of the most underrated colleges in Texas, UNT would without-a-doubt be a top contender for Harry Potter fans’ favorite king. With it’s lively campus and booming college town atmosphere, UNT would be the perfect place to a down-to-earth, loyal to a fault, trouble maker such as Ron. The atmosphere would make him feel right at home and the courses would challenge him just enough to make it all interesting. Although, I’m not sure he would be a fan of the school colors.

Hermione Granger- Southern Methodist University

While several people will probably disagree with this choice, I believe that Hermione would thrive in a school of this caliber. SMU’s nine libraries contain the largest collection of research materials in the Southwest, so she would never be bored, probably making it her personal mission to read every book they have before getting her degree. SMU also offers great programs in law, which when it comes to defending the rights of house elves, this may come in handy.

Harry Potter- University of Texas

I know several people are going to disagree with me on this, but I feel as though the University of Texas in Austin would be the best place for Harry. It has a great sports program and its scholastics programs are some of the highest ranked in the state. The atmosphere and city surrounding it also provides a glorious place for him to cause all sorts of mischief. He would flourish in a school such as UT.

While this is obviously pure theory, I think it’s fun to put some of our favorite characters into real life scenarios. I hope y’all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! Comment your thoughts below!!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
