If Harry Potter Characters Were College Majors

I'm a self-diagnosed Harry Potter fanatic, how about you?

I often find myself comparing everything in my life to Harry Potter. It makes me exquisitely happy to imagine my world and the world J.K. Rowling created colliding. If you're a Harry Potter fanatic, like me, you'll enjoy reading what J.K. Rowling's characters would be if they were college majors:

Science - Hermione Granger

Naturally, all the science majors go to Hermione Granger. This includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Neuroscience and everything in between. Similar to Hermione, science majors are unnaturally smart and extremely dedicated to their work (whether that's because they enjoy it or because they have to be, I'm unsure).

Political Science - Harry Potter

This goes without saying. The only thing that separates Political Science majors from Harry Potter is that Harry didn't choose to be a political figure. Well, that and political science majors aren't magical Horcruxes.

Business - Draco Malfoy

Malfoy would definitely be in a school of Business if he didn't attend Hogwarts. Ask a business major why they're a business major. I bet 9/10 times their answer has to do with income and power rather than enjoying what they do. Cunning and deceitful, Malfoy, like most business majors, is just trying to climb the ranks.

Computer Science - Tom Riddle (A.K.A. Voldemort)

Ok, picture a Defense Against the Dark Arts class as a Cyber Security class. Everyone's diligently taking notes on how to protect against hackers and inside Tom Riddle's head, the wheels are turning. After hours, he approaches his professor (Slughorn, is that you?) and asks questions regarding hacking instead of security. The professor, though nervous, answers his questions to the best of his ability. He can see talent and passion dancing in Riddle's eyes as they discuss illegal hacking.

"This is all just hypothetical, right?"

"Of course."

It is then that a brilliantly dangerous hacker is born. #ModernDayVoldemort

Communications - Ron Weasley

Though not a particularly difficult major, Communications only works for a specific type of person- one who isn't afraid to speak their mind regardless of their audience. Hence, Ronald Weasley.

Math - Severus Snape

Math, at first glance, is a dry subject. However, with further exploration, math has more depth than most other majors. Snape appears evil and terrible. Throughout the series, the character of Severus Snape doesn't appear to have much depth. He is evil through and through. And then you learn about his past. You understand his loss and his pain. You see the good in him. Similarly, it is not until you understand math that you learn to like it. It just takes opening your eyes.

Religion - Sirius Black

When Sirius Black enters the series in The Prisoner of Azkaban, he stays invisible for most of the book. He is a ghost, but with everything he has, he tries to be there for Harry. When they finally meet and understand each other, Sirius serves as a parent-figure that Harry never had. When he dies, Harry still thinks of him often. In my eyes, Sirius is Harry's guardian angel- there to protect him through life and death.

English - Rubeus Hagrid

This is a joke. Hagrid can barely speak English.

Philosophy - Luna Lovegood

Philosophy goes to none other than Luna Lovegood. She and her father epitomize wizard philosophy. This goes without saying.

Psychology - Moaning Myrtle

Poor Myrtle. She has a lot of psychological issues. The only problem with Myrtle going to school for psychology is that she would probably self-diagnose herself with everything. Then again, that might not be the worst thing for her. She probably needs to better understand her own mind.

Education - Albus Dumbledore

Dumbledore, though cryptic, is still probably the greatest teacher of all time. Who better to symbolize education then the man who basically taught everyone everything.

Environmental Science - Neville Longbottom

Through the years, when Neville didn't understand his own worth, herbology was there to show him he was good at something. Neville always excelled in the magical equivalent to environmental science, so it's only right that he gets this major.

Studio Arts - Nymphadora Tonks

Tonks is a superb example of an art major. If she wasn't a Metamorphmagus, she would probably be exercising her artistic creativity through other mediums. Perhaps painting or sculpting?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

11 Signs You Grew Up In Hauppauge, NY

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
