The Hardest Part Of Article Writing

It only seems simple.

The Hardest Part Of Article Writing

I have been working for Odyssey for a couple of months now, and it is a great opportunity that I am happy and proud to have been able to be a part of. It is easy to use and a lot of fun as I get to come up with my own topics to write about and then post it for everyone to see. It is basically like a blog but with hundreds of other members writing on it. There is only one downside to this opportunity, and even that is not that bad of a thing.

To be completely honest, the hardest part of writing for Odyssey is coming up with the topics to write about. The first couple of weeks I was able to push out a good number of articles without much difficulty because topics were just easy to come up with. Eventually, it became a lot harder to write topics or even think of something that I wanted to share my opinion on. Finally, we get to about now where I forget to even try to think of a topic because life catches up and nothing really is that interesting to write about.

I like to try to just experience life as it continues and just be inspired with a topic to write about and share with everyone. It seems silly to some people, but overthinking actually stresses me out and prevents me from coming up with something that I think could be awesome. That's how most of my topics are brought up and written about. I could be outside, watching TV, browsing the Internet. Anything could just inspire me to write something. But after a while, it just becomes harder. I start to remember that I have written a topic already before or I just do not want to actually share something because it could be too personal or too much.

So, anyway, as I am rolling around in my bed, frustrated that I cannot come up with anything interesting to share with my peers, I think to myself, "You know what? There is my topic. I am totally writing about the difficulty of even thinking of a topic." I even spend the next couple of moments kind of planning it out.

And here we are today!

I am sure I am not the only person to find it hard. I mean even in school when we can choose an essay topic I find it difficult to find something remotely interesting to write about. I can see everyone at some point or another sharing this huge burden of writing something special.

I would love to hear your story about a time when you just could not figure out a topic for something important. Comment below!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
