There are many students on campus that are involved in extracurricular activities such as intramural sports, Greek life, campus organizations, or even just a part-time job. All of these are added onto their schedules alongside the overwhelming workload and stress of college classes. Is it really all worth it to put health at risk just to get the experience and words on a resume?
So many people on my campus have been getting sick, and it's not only because of allergies. Not only we have to take care of our health, but we also have to take care of our midterms, our projects, our papers, our internships, our campus organizations, our jobs, and the list goes on. It can be a lot, but it really is all about time management and making priorities.
Personally, being involved keeps me on my toes and it helps me to make the most out of each day. When it comes to losing an hour or two of sleep each night and not eating at the right times of the day, that's a red flag.
Sometimes, a to-do list/planner/calendar can help so much. Timing everything while prioritizing things on a list helps to organize your mind and your day, while not stressing to sporadically go from one task to another.
Doing one task at a time and putting all your focus on it can be very productive. Our brains were not made to multitask. It is important to take one thing at a time, focus on it, get it done, cross it off your to-do list, and then move on to the next thing.
Otherwise, going from one task to another and then back wouldn't be as productive as it should be, and plus you may forget an important thing along the way.
Staying organized can help to minimize our stress and to be on top of things. It is important to take one day, one task at a time and manage our time well, and keep our priorities straight, all while staying healthy.
All of our performances now will help us in the long run. After all, it is college; the time to truly learn how to "adult" and figure ourselves out and what we want to do with our lives. Being involved and gaining experience is truly beneficial, as it helps us to gain a little snippet of how the real world will be like for us.
It is important to make the most out of our college experience, just don't forget that your health should be your number one priority.
