Recently, I talked with a friend about her plans for the summer. She told me that she was just taking the summer to work on herself, and this was coming from the girl who is always doing something, always involved in every activity, and always working. The more that I thought about it, the more I realized how truly important what she was doing is.
There is a real value in taking time to be happy with yourself and to find more of who you are in God and what He has planned for you. It is the key to making through any situation that life throws at you. Mountain high or valley low God is always there for you and with you, and the second that you realize that He is the only thing that matters in your life, you know that you can make it through anything.
There are plenty of things that you can do to find who you are in Christ. First off, reading His Word will do wonders in showing you your true value in Him. In the Bible, God shows us promises that He has for us and truths that we can equip ourselves with to defend against the enemy's lies.
Here is a list of verses that contain biblical truths that reveal who God made you to be:
Colossians 2:10, "I am complete in Him Who is the Head of all principality and power."
Ephesians 2:5, "I am alive in Christ."
Isaiah 54:14, "I am far from oppression, and fear does not come near me."
Ephesians 1:4, "I am holy and without blame before Him in love."
1 Corinthians 2:16, "I have the mind of Christ."
1 John 4:4, "I have the Greater One living in me; greater is He Who is in me than he who is in the world."
Talk with God and tell him your doubts and fears; the things that bother you and weigh you down. If you have any thoughts that make you believe that you can't handle the hard things that life throws at you, turn it over to him. Spend time with Him.
So I encourage you to take time this summer to discover more of yourself and who you are in Christ; spend time with Him and take the opportunity of a break to grow. Talk to Him, read His Word, and spend time with Him. You won't regret it.
