My Nana is my favorite human. She is a unique lady to say the least, all 4’11” of her. With Mother’s Day in the air, I thought it would be nice to expand from the norm of writing about my mom, whom I also love (shoutout to my mom)!
My Nana is one of my biggest cheerleaders. She and my Pop never miss a game, dance show, or any other event I am involved in. They are always the first ones there and they usually have food (post-soccer game hotdogs are definitely my favorite). Their car is tricked out with paper towels, plates, forks, knives, salt, pepper, sugar, and just in case you are thirsty, the cooler is usually stocked. At my soccer games, my Nana usually sits on top of their huge truck and cheers me on. They are always there about 40 minutes before game time, just so they don’t miss anything. I will forever be grateful for the love and support they give me in everything that I do. That is something not many people can say they have, but I know I will always be able to say that they’re there for me.
Nana and I have fond memories of us making Oreo Balls (YUM), lollipops, but never french fries (that is always Pop’s job). When I was little, I would sleep over every Saturday night and we would usually watch movies on VHS, our favorites being "Big Daddy"with Adam Sandler and "The Parent Trap"with Lindsey Lohan. In the morning, bright and early, Pop would make eggs and bacon and Uncle Carl would go out to get chocolate milk. We did the same thing every Saturday.
One of the best things I ever taught my nana was how to text. She texts me all the time and she even learned how to use emojis! Her texts always make me smile and they always end with “xoxo Nana” or “love you, Nana.” I think it’s adorable because I have her contact saved and I know exactly who is texting me.
Nana, I love you. Thank you for everything you do for me. Thank you for always being there for me no matter what. I don’t know what I would do without you or Pop. I wanted to say this Mother’s Day that I am grateful I inherited some of my traits from you, and I am even more grateful I didn’t inherit my height from you!
