We all know how hard it is to break a bad habit. Why don't we try to replace our typical habits with more positive ones? Practicing these habits is a good start.

1. Get enough sleep.

Sleep is so...slept on! It is so vital to our lives as humans. Not getting enough sleep or even sleeping too much can negatively impact how our days go. We all need to have better sleep schedules and make sure that we're getting enough every night. If we do, we'll wake up refreshed and feeling good for the next day.

2. Make your bed.

Starting your day by making your bed is such a simple, yet rewarding task. This will make you feel productive and this attitude will follow you throughout the day. It will encourage you to go the extra mile and keep working. No matter what happens during the day, you'll come home to a made bed which is one of the best feelings.

3. Drink water.

Not only is hydration important, but most of our fatigue, headaches, or even hunger can be fixed by drinking water. Drinking water will make you feel refreshed and energized. It will even promote healthier skin.

4. Eat fruits and veggies.

Another healthy habit is to eat more fruits and vegetables. Your body is a temple and what you put into it will affect how you feel and how you will go about your day. Eating these nutritious foods will make you feel energized and ready to take on your day.

5. Exercise regularly.

Incorporating some type of physical activity may feel stressful but when you do work out, it is so rewarding. We should all try to get even a few minutes of exercise every day. Not only does this promote a healthier lifestyle, but will make you feel more productive and motivated. A good workout can improve your day.

6. Smile often.

Smile! Each time you smile, your brain feels really happy. Smiling can help reduce stress because it activates the release of feel-good endorphins. Smiling makes you look attractive and makes you happy, so we should all do it more.

7. Laugh every day.

Just like smiling, laughing can help relieve stress by releasing endorphins. Laughter is the best medicine and will make you feel so happy. It can decrease stress hormones and can even promote an overall sense of well-being.

8. Compliment someone.

True happiness comes through making others happy. Complimenting someone can make their day and won't take anything away from you. This simple act of kindness can make somebody else feel happy, and that is one of the greatest gifts we can give.

9. Explore meditation.

Meditation is a good way to practice mindfulness and it can positively impact your life. Meditation is known for its relieving qualities and will make you feel less stressed. This practice can lead to a happier mind and body.

10. Embrace negativity.

In order to be happy, we have to allow ourselves to feel what we feel, even if it is sadness. Without these negative emotions, we could never experience the good ones. We cannot suppress our bad emotions because holding it all in is worse. By letting ourselves get through negative times, we will be happier and come out stronger.

11. Spend time with family and friends.

Humans are social beings, so we are all happier when we see our loved ones. Making time for your family and friends will make you happy and feel good. It's important to form lasting connections with family members and friends. You'll feel complete and know that you have people who are there for you.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
