There is an Italian Proverb that says: "If nothing is going well, call your grandmother." Now let us be completely honest here for a second, I am not Italian; however, this is pretty much the proverb I live by.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I value the relationship with my Grandmother (Grammy). Grammy is honestly, hands down my favorite person on planet Earth. Seriously! And since it is Grandparents Day what better way to publicly tell her in the best way I can Happy Grandparents Day than using the biggest platform I have to do so.
Up until, I believe, the end of my sixth grade year my Grammy lived with my mother, sister and I. For me Grammy living with us was the best thing that a kid could ever ask for. Being able to get home from school and curl up on the couch with my Grammy was absolutely everything I wanted without knowing it, and now that I cannot do that I call my Grammy all hours of the day. Anyone on campus or in my life can tell you that majority of the time if I am holding the phone up to my face I am talking to my Grammy. I legitimately call her about EVERYTHING. Mom wouldn't answer the phone? I'm calling Grammy to snitch. I failed a test? I'm calling Grammy. I passed a test that I was stressed out about? I'm calling Grammy. I learned new things in class? Heck yeah, I'm calling Grammy as soon as I step foot out the door. On the way to work? Just guess who I'm calling.. Grammy! I am positive that you have guessed the trend, I call Grammy about everything no matter how big or small.
Grammy is my sounding board, and I know that her intentions towards me are pure so there is no doubt that when I have a new idea concerning ministry, life or success that I am calling Grammy to figure out if my plan is thought out correctly and if she has anything that could push me into the right direction or even if she thinks its not a great idea and that I shouldn't do it. I in all honesty have no idea how I could live my life without talking to my Grammy every day.
All of my friends probably get super tired of me telling them about my Grammy and how awesome she is. I am always saying something that starts off with "Grammy said..." or "when I was on the phone with Grammy earlier...". But I believe they have also started to love my Grammy as theirs as well.
So, to my Grammy Happy Grandparents Day! I love you! You're Awesome!
P.S. I ate today.. and I had a salad.
